Before you read this, you should read more on what it takes to be a Navy SEAL and how they are made. Click Here. These guys don't play around.
Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO2), Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO2, Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO1, Click Here to view the charges in PDF format. Click Here to view the congressional petition in PDF format. Sept. 2 2009 SEAL Team 10 Successfully captures one of Iraqs most wanted Terrorists Ahmed Hashim Abed, a confirmed Mujahideen commander, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber." Oct. 2 2009 Three of the Navy SEALs are issued charges. Dec. 7 2009 SO2 McCabe?s civilian military attorney, Neal A. Puckett, reserved the entry of pleas and selection of forum until a later date, as is customary at military arraignments. Unusual about this case was the fact that as of the date of the arraignment, the defense had not yet been provided with the evidence against Petty Officer McCabe. Dec. 10 2009 Various Senators sign a petition to drop the charges against the SEALs. Feb 7 2010 The military judge in the Huertas and Keefe case closed the last motion hearing by directing the April courts-martial be held in Baghdad so the Iraqi detainee would be present to testify live in the courtroom. The government declined to attempt to bring the detainee to Norfolk for the trials. The military judge determined the defense attorney?s request for the Constitutional right to confrontation required the Iraqi detainee to be present. The government request to depose the detainee was denied, and the entire cadre to support two special courts-martial will travel to Iraq. Feb. 10 2010 Major General Cleveland has canceled the government trip to Iraq to depose the detainee & Terrorist witness who made the claim against the 3 SEALs. The prosecution is no longer going to use him as a witness. Mar. 17 2010 A Military Judge, Cmdr. Tierney Carlos, gave Cleveland until March 24 to provide immunity to witnesses (other SEALs) that claim McCabe never hit the terrorist. The Judge ordered granting immunity to these witnesses or he will abate the proceeding -- a legal term for postponing it indefinitely. April 22, 2010 SO1 Julio Huertas was found NOT GUILTY by a military jury. He was the senior member of the three Navy SEALs facing charges for allegedly abusing Ahmed Hashim Abed, the reported mastermind behind the killing of US contractors in 2004. April 23, 2010 SO2 Jonathan Keefe found NOT GUILTY in Military court in Iraq. Two of the three Navy SEALs accused of detainee abuse of Ahmed Hashim Abed have now been fully exonerated by a military courts. The Law Firm of Puckett & Faraj, PC is now calling upon Major General Cleveland to dismiss the charges against the remaining Navy SEAL, SO2 Matthew McCabe. To proceed with the trial against SO2 McCabe would be a tremendous waste of tax payer money. May 5, 2010 SO2 Matthew McCabe found NOT GUILTY and fully exonerated of all charges. A nation rejoices as all of our hard work and efforts pay off. The only thing left is to pay the debt that Gen. Cleveland caused. |
